Program

Farm School NYC is distributing 10 Micro Grants of $10,000 that can be used to improve a growing space, dive deeper into conservation practices, share information with community about food and farming, and advance a project through capacity building.

With such a vibrant and ambitious urban growing community, Farm School NYC collaborated with a selection committee of NYC urban growers to review and score over 40 applications. Each application highlights the impact that each growing space has on the local and regional food system - weaving the fabric of community and achieving access to land, food, education, and resources. We are deeply grateful for each applicant and wish we could have funded every project.

John Bowne H.S. Animal, Plant and Agriscience Institute

Queens

John Bowne High School’s Agriculture Program is home to New York City’s only 4-acre school-based farm, providing over 400 urban students with hands-on agricultural education. The project will strengthen sustainable farming practices on campus by expanding conservation initiatives, upgrading growing spaces, and creating opportunities for students to share agricultural knowledge with the wider community. This includes improving soil health and composting systems, enhancing water conservation infrastructure, and establishing a student-led community education series focused on urban farming, and agriculture education.
